Drilling and installing a roof penetration in a flat concrete roof.

When drilling a roof penetration in a flat concrete roof, it is actually necessary to burn or glue the drilled hole to the existing roof covering on the day itself. After drilling the hole, the roof is "leaky". If the hole is the lowest point of the roof, this means that from that moment on the entire roof drains into your house. Where you normally call a concrete driller with a diamond drill for the hole and a roofer for the waterproof attachment of the penetration, we carry out both activities at the same time.

Drill and waterproof the roof penetration.

If you want a roof duct drilled and burned or incorporated in a flat roof, a concrete driller and a roofer will have to get to work. We at De Betonboorder perform both services, which means we can combine the work and carry it out on the same day. This way you don't have to worry about planning the availability of both a concrete driller and a roofer. This way you can easily organize these activities for your air conditioning, solar panels or heat pump.

Why do I need a roof duct in a flat roof?

Why do I need a roof duct in a flat roof?

For example, for a heat pump, extractor, air conditioning or solar panels, pipes or cables must regularly enter through the roof. To lead these in waterproof, you need a roof duct, this is a hole in the roof through which the pipe of the pipe or cables comes, which is then attached waterproofly to the existing roof covering. This can be glued or burned, depending on the covering. In this way, you can lead installations through the roof without leaks.

How is the hole drilled through the roof?

When drilling a roof duct, choosing the right location is very important. The hole must of course end up in the right place inside, but the hole outside must not end up too close to ventilation pipes or the roof edge. If the hole is too close to these obstacles, it will be very difficult to finish the roof properly waterproof again. Inside, it is especially important that the hole is in a place that can be neatly finished later for visibility. We prefer to drill a hole in a flat concrete roof from the top inwards. First, we drill a test hole with a thin drill to be able to check the measured position very precisely. Then we place a container under the drilling location so that we can collect the water that is needed to drill through concrete while wet.

How is the hole drilled through the roof?

Why does burning the roof penetration have to be done at the same time as drilling the hole?

When installing a roof duct, we always make a watertight roof duct immediately after drilling the hole. If there is time between drilling and the arrival of the roofer, there is always a risk of rain and if the location of the hole is relatively low, the entire flat roof can drain into your home. Because we perform both specializations, we can immediately incorporate a watertight duct into the existing roof covering after drilling the hole. With a bitumen roof covering, we burn it in, with EPDM we will glue it.

What does a roof duct look like?

A roof duct for pipes often consists of an aluminium plate with a tube, also called the adhesive plate. This adhesive plate provides enough surface area to make the roof duct waterproof. Various feed-through pieces can be on the adhesive plate. These feed-through pieces ensure that no water can enter the roof duct from above.

FAQ

Do you also supply the roof duct?

In general, the roof duct is included in the price you received from us. Are you in doubt? Then definitely ask!

Why is it useful to have both activities done by one party?

From the moment the hole is drilled, your roof will be leaking until a roofer comes to make it waterproof again. To keep the risk of leakage as small as possible, it is better to have this done by one party. That way, the chance of water damage is minimal. In fact, we plan it so that you do not have any leakage during the work!

Do you supply cable glands and ventilation?

We supply and install both cable entries and ventilation entries.

Can you do it at short notice?

We can usually help you within 2 weeks. If there is a real rush, please let us know, then we can always try to find a spot.
